San Juan, Midsummer Madness
22nd - 25th June 2016
Wednesday 22nd June 2016
Arrive at Alicante airport in the morning. We will arrange your transfer to Javea. Check in is from 12 noon.
We will have our Quirky Welcome Tea at 4pm at the poolside for you to meet the other party animals!
Enjoy a delicious picnic down by the waterside at the secret cove of Cala Blanca after a sunset dip.
Thursday 23rd June 2016
For the early birds a guided Sunrise walk to Cap Prim is on offer followed by a scrumptious buffet breakfast out on the terrace.
Enjoy a lazy day in the sun or perhaps a trip in the groovy VW Serendipity Bus to Javea Port area for a coffee and a Mosey Around the Marina. Check out this hot spot and see how the other half live.
After a delicious lunch you can choose your treatment. We advise a siesta as good preparation for a late night fiesta!
In this beautiful coastal area of Spain, the balmy days of June turn into wild, extraordinary nights, where anything can happen. Seeing a whole village come out to play together is a sight to behold and a joy to be a part of! To get us in the party mood we will enjoy Sangria and Tasty Tapas.
“Nit dels Focs”: with crowns on our heads everyone joins in the tradition of jumping over the mini bonfires dotted about the streets in this enchanting historic town. It is time to make your wishes and throw them in the giant bonfire at the end of the circuit along with your flowered garland. There then follows the indescribable “Correfocs” bringing us to the end of this crazy, magical night.
Friday 24th June 2016
This morning, you can enjoy a well-deserved lie in, then a poolside breakfast to be served at your leisure.
Today is the opportunity to witness Midday Madness in the Old Town. You certainly have to witness the “Mascletà”; a gun powdered show of firecrackers where you quite literally experience the ground shake. It’s really, really loud!
A late Lazy Paella Lunch back at the ranch is the plan, before a snooze and more treatments.
Let’s get out for a cheeky sun downer and more tapas and feast our eyes on the grand parade where the young "Quintas" of the town get all dressed up in the magnificent finery of traditional Spanish dress.
The Grand Finale is a spectacular midnight fireworks display orchestrated to music, followed by the burning of the massive “Foguera”, (giant paper mache statue), in the main square.
Saturday 25th June 2016
On our last day, let’s make time for a morning swim before brunch at one of our favourite beach bars, Cala Bandida, which overlooks Javea’s stunning bay. Then we can say “cheerio” and “hasta pronto” before you skedaddle back to the airport.
What a blast - time to go home for a rest!

The San Juan fiesta in Javea will blow your socks off. It’s truly an experience not to be missed so prepare to have your senses awakened! This particular fiesta is a spectacular and very lively mix of traditional Spanish customs and Christianised pagan celebrations; definitely not for the fainthearted or those that fancy an early night!
In true Spanish tradition, nothing starts until the sun goes down and the party usually continues until dawn. It’s a remarkable world famous event, attended by thousands and certainly one for the memory box. Come and join us for the last two days of the biggest fiesta in Javea.
It’s just nuts! You kinda gotta see it to believe it.
